Sustainable Workforce

A Life-Changing Career Path

Dwyer Workforce Development’s pathway to career success begins with you becoming a Dwyer Scholar and completing a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) job training and certification program. The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) job training and certification is the second of the two licenses included in this training program. In some states, a CNA needs their GNA certification to qualify to work in a long-term care facility (LTC) or nursing home. Our free CNA courses are offered at convenient locations in the communities we serve.

After working in the industry, we help you advance in your career through scholarships to achieve an LPN or RN license, or other healthcare careers.

What is the Difference Between a CNA & GNA?

CNAs and GNAs both perform essential nursing assistant duties, such as checking patients’ vitals, feeding and grooming patients, and managing patients’ documentation. Both work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).

CNAs can work in many different healthcare facilities or healthcare settings, including home health. Some states may require an additional GNA certification to work in skilled nursing facilities and nursing homes. GNA certification widens a job seeker’s employment opportunities while further enhancing their expertise in the field of caring for older patients. CNAs and GNAs are often the first line of patient care, and their daily responsibilities help families and communities all around us.
