Dwyer Workforce Development (DWD) Grows with Addition of Sherna’ Barksdale, MSW, LCSW-C, as Director of Case Management

The Jack and Nancy Dwyer Workforce Development Center, Inc. (“Dwyer Workforce Development” or “DWD”) today announced the addition of Sherna’ Barksdale, MSW, LCSW-C, as director of case management to the team. In her role, Sherna’ will oversee and manage all case managers; develop and implement case management programs and policies; advocate and facilitate support for Dwyer Scholars; and more to support Dwyer Workforce Development’s mission.

Before joining Dwyer Workforce Development, Sherna’ served as director of social services at FutureCare, the leader in short-term rehabilitation and nursing care throughout Maryland. As director of social services, Sherna’ oversaw FutureCare’s medically related social services process, from admission to post-discharge for a 160-bed facility; ensured all residents received optimal care; worked in tandem with healthcare providers, residents and families to create individualized patient care plans; and more.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sherna’ to the Dwyer Workforce Development team,” said Dwyer Workforce Development CEO Barb Clapp. “Her years of experience in the social services industry, coupled with her highly sought-after licensure, make her an incredible asset to our team as we take Dwyer Workforce Development national! She’s already hit the ground running and we cannot wait to see how she continues to build and shape our case management program – and make a significant positive impact on the lives of Dwyer Scholars.”

Sherna’ received a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Morgan State University and a master’s degree in Social Work, specializing in Gerontology from University of Maryland School of Social Work. She is a board-approved supervisor. Outside of her role, Sherna’ enjoys volunteering, mentoring new social workers, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
