Dwyer Workforce Development Launches Careforce Collective Leadership Giving Breakfast to Empower the Future of Healthcare, Presented by CFG Bank

Jack and Nancy Dwyer Workforce Development Center, Inc. (“Dwyer Workforce Development” or “DWD”), a national healthcare workforce development nonprofit, is proud to announce the inaugural Careforce Collective Leadership Giving Breakfast, presented by CFG Bank. The breakfast will celebrate DWD’s most generous supporters and inspire continued investment in DWD’s powerful mission to support individuals who lack opportunity and aspire to pursue a career in the healthcare industry, address the national healthcare workforce shortage, and improve the lives of seniors and the community at large. Presented by CFG Bank, the event will take place on October 9, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at The Penguin Room at Whitehall Mill (3300 Clipper Mill Rd, Baltimore, MD, 21211).

The Careforce Collective Leadership Giving Breakfast will bring together business and community leaders, philanthropic partners, and Dwyer Scholars for a morning of celebration, storytelling, and networking. Attendees will meet and hear real stories from Dwyer Scholars who have overcome immense barriers to pursue meaningful careers in nursing and healthcare, improving life for themselves, their families, and our community.

“We are thrilled to launch the Careforce Collective Leadership Giving Breakfast to recognize and bring together those who have made it possible for us to bring our mission to life,” said DWD CEO, Barb Clapp. “Thanks to our supporters’ compassion and commitment, we have helped build stronger futures for over 8,000 Dwyer Scholars since September 2022. This event is a celebration of hope, resilience, and what’s possible when a community comes together to lift others up and a catalyst for even greater momentum as we look ahead.”

The Careforce Collective is more than just an event; it’s a giving circle of changemakers committed to empowering futures through contributions to DWD. The continued support from these individuals goes beyond supporting Dwyer Scholars’ education, it’s an investment in the broader community, advancing workforce stability, health equity, and economic mobility.

Through the support of donors and sponsors, DWD provides Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) training and job placement support to underserved individuals and need-based wraparound services—including financial support for housing, childcare, and transportation—to eliminate barriers to success. Program participants, known as Dwyer Scholars, are paired with dedicated case managers who determine the wraparound services needed and offer ongoing mentorship, guiding them through both professional and personal challenges while helping them navigate a career path in healthcare. As Scholars achieve key milestones, they become eligible for continued training and educational opportunities, creating pathways to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and advance into additional roles in healthcare.
