Governor Abbott Joins DWD Graduation of 50+ Healthcare Graduates in McAllen Supported by $375,000 Workforce Training Grant

Dwyer Workforce Development CEO Barb Clapp recently joined Governor Greg Abbott and local leaders in McAllen to recognize more than 50 graduates of its CNA and CMA training programs. The event also highlighted a $375,000 workforce training grant from the Texas Workforce Commission’s Self-Sufficiency Fund, supporting tuition-free healthcare workforce training across the Rio Grande Valley.

“What you’re doing is more than just a job, what you’re doing is stepping into a calling, a noble calling to serve other people,” said Governor Abbott, speaking to the graduates during the ceremony.

“Our programs provide not just training, but real pathways to stable healthcare careers,” said CEO Barb Clapp. “This event underscores the growing impact of DWD in addressing workforce shortages while opening doors for students across Texas.”
