When I moved to Florida from New York, I was searching for more than just sunshine — I was searching for a future.
As a single mom of a child with autism, I needed a career that could support my family and give me purpose. That’s when I found Dwyer Workforce Development (DWD), and everything changed.
Through DWD’s partnership with CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia, I received free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training alongside my sister. We studied together, supported each other, and both graduated as certified CNAs. Today, I work at Indian River Center, caring for patients and building a career I’m proud of. My sister is also thriving in her new role.
We didn’t just gain jobs — we gained confidence, stability, and a path forward.
What makes DWD different is their holistic approach. They didn’t just train me — they supported me. From transportation assistance to emotional encouragement, DWD was part of my village. They understood the challenges I faced and helped me overcome them. That’s why I’m now working toward becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), with dreams of becoming a travel nurse someday.
DWD’s impact in Florida is real. Since launching in 2023, they’ve facilitated the training of over 800 Dwyer Scholars statewide, with 86% placed into jobs in healthcare facilities. CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia was the first entity in Florida to partner with DWD. Through that partnership, DWD has provided over $65,000 in direct support services and over 1,300 case management touchpoints to ensure that trainees get the support needed to succeed.
